The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots are IRCC programs that allow people working in home child care or home support, or who have completed related training, to apply for permanent residence.

What is Canadian caregiver immigration?
The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots are IRCC programs that allow people working in home child care or home support, or who have completed related training, to apply for permanent residence.
The programs run as two separate streams: one for those already working in Canada (Work in Canada) and one for applicants not working in Canada.

Eligible fields of care

Home Child Care — caring for children aged 18 and under
Home Child Care Provider (NOC 44100) / Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 42202). Note: experience as a day care teacher, early childhood educator or supervisor is not accepted.

Home Support — caring for people with limited mobility
Home Support Workers, Caregivers and related occupations (NOC 44101) / Nurse Aides, Orderlies and Patient Service Associates (NOC 33102).
ELIGIBILITY
Applicant requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent, at minimum
- CLB 4 or above on an approved language test
- Option 1 — at least 6 months of relevant full-time experience within the past 3 years
- Option 2 — at least 6 months of relevant training completed within the past 2 years
OPTION 1 / OPTION 2
Experience and training requirements
You may qualify either with at least six months of relevant experience within the past three years, or with at least six months of home care training completed within the past two years. Canadian work experience is not required.
Note: volunteer work and work performed as a student are not accepted. Where several part-time jobs were held over the same period, hours may be combined to reach 30 hours or more per week.

Employer and job offer requirements
The Home Care Worker Immigration Pilots require a job offer from an employer at the time you apply.
Note: the HCWP opens for intake on a set date each year and fills quickly on a first-come, first-served basis. We recommend a full consultation with a professional consultant so your documents are ready in advance.
- A private household, or a company or organisation working in home care
- Full-time hours of 30 or more per week, with permanent-employment pay
- Wages at or above the median for the region
- The financial evidence IRCC requires
- An employer officially registered with the CRA and holding a business number
